Day 2: Rotterdam
- Full-day market visit (details to be announced) in the likes of SIF.
- SIF is a monopile manufacturer. They do foundation design, corrosion protection and logistical services. With their advanced machinery and production processes, they are capable of manufacturing 200 XXXL monopiles every year with a weight of 2,500 tonnes, a diameter of 11 meters and a length of 100 meters. That equals an offshore capacity of 2,400 MW every year.
- Drop-off at Schiphol Airport in time to reach late flights out to Billund or Copenhagen
Join a delegation tour to explore the latest in offshore and onshore wind energy in the Netherlands. Network with Dutch, Danish, and German leaders, gain market insights, and foster cross-border collaboration.
This tour connects you with top industry players and partnerships, unlocking growth and innovation in the renewable energy sector across the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark.
ABOUT THE MARKET
Onshore wind energy capacity in the Netherlands in 2023 was 6,854 MW. Despite the relatively small size of the Netherland it operates the 8th largest fleet in Europe. There was also added 771 MW onshore wind in 2023, and a total of 11 projects were realized alone in 2022. The growth was mainly due to the construction of several large wind farms: Maasvlakte 2 and Windplan Groen and Windplanblauw in the province of Flevoland. Onshore wind has a need for operation, maintenance, service and repowering.
There are 10 active wind farms in the Dutch North Sea, which ensure a combined total installed capacity of around 4.7 GW. The offshore market in the Dutch North Sea is expanding fast. In 2022, the Government raised the target for offshore wind capacity from 11 to 21 GW by 2030/2031 (now expected to be by 2032). In addition, the Government is focusing on the generation of energy from approximately 50 GW of offshore wind in 2040 and approximately 70 GW in 2050. The Netherlands added 1.9 GW in 2023, most of all European countries leading to a record year for Europe (3.9 GW total). Offshore infrastructure is needed to transport the energy from new offshore wind farms to land. As the Government expects the Netherlands to convert part of the electricity generated into hydrogen after 2030, the infrastructure must also be able to transport hydrogen. That is why 'energy hubs' will be created that take this into account in the new Wind Farm Zones.

The Netherlands' Business Support Offices (NBSO)
This delegation is supported by NBSO and their Dutch network. The Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSO) are Dutch governmental trade offices abroad that assist Dutch companies with exports, business setups, market information, and finding partners. The NBSO in Hamburg supports Dutch entrepreneurs in Northern Germany, focusing on the Hamburg metropolitan region and areas in Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, and Bremen. Key sectors include shipping, shipbuilding, aerospace, offshore wind, green architecture, and sports digitalization.
In 2025, the Hamburg office will host events in innovative sectors to help Dutch businesses expand their networks and market knowledge. The NBSO collaborates with local German organizations like Hamburg Invest, as well as international partners such as Innovation Norway, Scottish Development International, and the Danish General Consulate in Hamburg to tackle global challenges together.
