Danish Energy Export and the Royal Embassy of Denmark in Warsaw invite you to explore opportunities in the Polish offshore wind sector in Szczecin

Join us for a two-day event focusing on the rapidly growing offshore wind industry and the unique advantages offered by the Szczecin hub for Danish suppliers. The program highlights the latest developments, upcoming projects, and networking opportunities with Polish and international companies established in the Zachodniopomorskie region—the most advanced offshore wind area in Poland and a base for several current and future Baltic Sea projects.

Tentative Program

Polish Offshore Wind Sector in the Zachodniopomorskie Region

  • Overview of the Sector
Presentation by the Wind Industry Hub and Polish Wind Association, highlighting the current state and future prospects of offshore wind energy in Poland
  • Supply Chain Collaboration
Discover opportunities for cooperation with sub-suppliers specializing in offshore wind components in the Zachodniopomorskie region
  • Matchmaking and Networking
Engage with Polish partners, developers, and key stakeholders to foster partnerships and discuss mutual growth opportunities

Meeting with Vestas and Factory Visit

  • Tour Vestas’ facilities and learn about their production processes for offshore wind components

Meeting with Key Developers in the Region

  • Discussions with developers involved in the first offshore wind projects:
    • PGE Baltica
    • Orlen
    • Equinor
    • Ørsted

Installation Ports in Szczecin and Świnoujście

  • Explore the capabilities and strategic importance of these ports for transportation, assembly, and offshore wind installation

Windar Renovables

  • Engage in discussions about potential cooperation opportunities with Windar Renovables to expand the supply chain and enhance project efficiency

The Polish Offshore Wind Market

Poland has set an ambitious target of developing up to 18 GW of offshore wind capacity within the next decade. Nearly 11 GW of this capacity has already undergone the bidding process, resulting in key partnerships between:

  • PGE and Ørsted
  • Orlen and Northland Power
  • Polenergia and Equinor
  • RWE and Ocean Winds

In the second round of applications, Polish state-owned companies, such as PGE Baltica and Orlen, secured significant new locations, many without external partners.

The Polish government’s commitment to offshore wind is evident in the revised Renewable Energy Act, which increased the target for phase II development from 5 GW to 12 GW. The Baltic Sea’s favorable conditions—shallow waters and steady wind speeds—ensure the first projects will go live between 2026 and 2027.

Danish Leadership in Poland’s Offshore Wind Sector

Danish companies are instrumental in shaping Poland’s offshore wind energy future. Key contributors include:

  • Ørsted, partnering with PGE to develop large-scale wind farms in the Baltic Sea.
  • Vestas, a global leader in wind turbine manufacturing, is significantly expanding operations in Poland with two new factories in Szczecin:
    • Nacelle and Hub Assembly Factory: Expected to open in 2025, producing key components for the V236-15.0 MW turbine and creating 700 direct jobs.
    • Blade Manufacturing Facility: Announced in 2024, this facility will manufacture blades for the same turbine. Operations are set to begin in 2026, generating over 1,000 direct jobs.
