Location
Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, VietnamJoin the Danish Wind Delegation to Vietnam to explore business opportunities in one of Asia’s most rapidly expanding markets for renewable energy. This delegation, planned by DI, TC, DCC, and Danish Energy Export, taking place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from 14-17 April 2025, will engage Danish companies with key players in the Vietnamese energy market.
Why Join
Vietnam’s energy demands are among the highest in ASEAN, with rapid industrialisation driving the need for cleaner energy sources. Vietnam has set ambitious goals to increase its wind energy capacity with a target of 23GW newly installed wind energy sources by 2030. Additionally, the country's green transition is supported by Direct Power Purchase Agreements (DPPA), enabling companies to secure direct access to renewable energy.
The recent visit to Copenhagen by the Vietnamese deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha left the impression that wind energy now moves from plans to action making Vietnam a market with highly promising opportunities for Danish Wind companies and innovation.
Market drivers
- Among the fastest growing economies in the world, Vietnam’s GDP growth rate is expected to average between 5% and 8% over the coming decades
- Commitment to net zero in 2050 at COP26 increasing the need for renewable energy and green technology
- Government ambitions to install more than 17GW onshore and 6GW offshore wind by 2030 set out in the Vietnamese Power Development Plan 8
- Recent DPPA decree setting the overall framework for opportunities for companies to purchase green electricity
- Urgent need to increase energy supply
- Deeper economic integration for being a member of 16 Free Trade Agreements (including EU–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement) and 3 FTAs in negotiation
